Follow on Google News | The Jacksonville Children's Chorus (JCC) announces 2019-2020 Chorus AuditionsJacksonville Children's Chorus has officially opened auditions for the 2019-2020 choral year, for children in 2nd grade through 12th grade in Northeast Florida.
To prepare for the audition, your singer will be asked: "do you love to sing?" A conductor will lead a quick 15-minute audition where they will get to know your singer, listen to their ability to match pitch, and teach them a simple tune. The audition process is free and your singer does not need to prepare an audition piece. The 2019/2020 year promises to be a special one, as JCC will be celebrating their 25th Anniversary! JCC has deep ties to the Jacksonville area. For 25 years, The Chorus has expanded in opportunities, choirs, and numbers! Growing from a small group of 16 singers, the JCC now boasts a membership of 350 strong. With seven choirs, including a Young Men's Chorus, JCC offers children an opportunity to follow their dreams, regardless of their family's financial situation. In the 2018-19 season, JCC, with the help of sponsors and donors, provided partial or full scholarships to over 35% of singers who sought financial assistance. The Jacksonville Children's Chorus prepares singers for success, in music and in their journey through adolescence and into adulthood. Singers celebrate diversity and exploration through local, national, and international tours. The JCC encourages singers to participate in opportunities that will enrich and shape their lives, and the lives of their loved ones and community. Self-discipline, teamwork, and servitude are skills the JCC holds to high esteem and instills in every singer. JCC singers and alumni have developed leadership skills, positive character traits and expressed these qualities well beyond their youth. JCC Alumni leave a legacy that echoes in the rehearsal spaces and performance halls. Program Coordinator of ten years, Diana Wooten said, "I have watched many of these singers mature into fine young men and women. From their audition to their final performance as a member of the Jacksonville Children's Chorus, they blossom. When a singer becomes an alumnus of the Chorus, they leave us more confident, as better leaders, and appreciators of the arts." Kinne to fill a need for a children's music program in Northeast Florida. Since its inception, the group grew from 16 voices to a membership of over 300 singers. Because music education is crucial to a child's development, the JCC offers partial or full scholarship to any child who wishes to sing, regardless of the family's ability to pay. The scholarship program is funded solely through donations and ensures diversity in membership. The JCC has developed into one of Jacksonville's most important providers of music education, enriching the lives of singers and audiences across the region. End
