Decatur, Mississippi's Darnell Da'Bachelor cites as main artistic influences Bobby Bland, BB King, Tyrone Davis, Marvin Sease, Little Milton, and Sir Small World. Darnell Da'Bachelor's own sound takes elements from each of these and adds something fresh and unique for a result unlike anything today's music fans have heard before. With an emphasis on smooth vocal performances, chill melody lines and solid back beats, "Mr. Rogers" and "A Woman Like You" by Darnell Da'Bachelor have a little something for everybody.
Asked to describe the overall meaning of "Mr. Rogers," Darnell Da'Bachelor writes, "I bring all kind of messages to the table. My music has no limitations."
This lyrical freedom comes partially from having been in music since before – well, almost anything.
"I been singing ever since I was able to speak, LOL," writes Da'Bachelor. "The first songs I remember singing were blues. My mother use to sing to me all the time. I remember her changing me and she would be humming or singing something. I would just follow what she was doing."
Today, Darnell Da'Bachelor is mostly known for playing and singing blues music. This also has deep roots in his childhood.
Darnell Da'Bachelor says of this, "I was born in a small town Decatur. I grew up singing in church … I've been a blues lover all my life. I started writing songs when I was in the high school."
"Mr. Rogers" and "A Woman Like You" are the most prominent official releases from Darnell Da'Bachelor since his popular 2010 gospel album, "I Won't Turn Back."
