Tennis foundation prepares Club kids for athletic success

The marriage between tennis and self-confidence took a huge leap for the Club kids of Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Lucie County thanks to a new partnership between the Club and the newly formed Treasure Coast Tennis Foundation.

The relationship came to its first fruition following a recent tennis tournament where Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Lucie County were named their inaugural recipient by Karin DeCoste, foundation president.

DeCoste came to the Club's main office in Fort Pierce to make a presentation of tennis equipment and a check for $5,000 designed to be part of the preparation that will lead to the success and self-confidence of the Club members. "The Treasure Coast Tennis Foundation is designed to grow tennis while also giving back within the tri-county communities we serve" said DeCoste.

"Tennis offers a discipline different than what you find in team sports like basketball or football. Even though it is an 'individual' sport you still have to learn how to communicate and conduct yourself to judges, coaches and opponents." said Will Armstead, CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Lucie County.

With the table set for the preparation of self-confidence on tennis courts for Club kids it is just another avenue of positivity and opportunity for the youth at Boys & Girls Clubs of t. Lucie County.
