HOLLYWOOD, Calif. - April 25, 2019 - PRLog -- Here TV's "A Long Road to Freedom: The Advocate Celebrates 50 Years" has earned a Daytime Emmy Nomination. Written and directed by Billy Clift and produced by two-time Emmy nominee, David Millbern, "A Long Road to Freedom: The Advocate Celebrates 50 Years" secured the nomination in the Outstanding Special Class Special category.

Narrated by Laverne Cox with music by Melissa Etheridge, this moving feature-length documentary focuses on watershed moments in LGBTQ history through never-before-seen footage and engaging interviews with Warner Media Entertainment Chairman Robert Greenblatt, Caitlyn Jenner, Cleve Jones, Bruce Cohen, Don Lemon, Gloria Allred, California Governor Gavin Newsom, Dustin Lance Black, Margaret Cho, Armistead Maupin, Bruce Vilanch, Greg Louganis, DeRay McKesson, Candis Cayne, Guillermo Diaz, and many more. Starting with the Black Cat Riots, the film covers Stonewall, the disco sexual revolution, the AIDS crisis, marriage equality, and the trans movement to the present day.

"This documentary lays out a clear path of resistance that resides in the DNA of the LGBTQ community," says producer David Millbern. "It demonstrates that with courage and resilience, we can conquer any foe. As bad as things may seem currently, we have been here before. We hope that this film not only educates but serves as a call to action for a new generation of activists."
