MILBRIDGE, Maine - April 23, 2019 - PRLog -- In July of 1996, Sports Illustrated dispatched staff writer John Walters to cover the 12th Annual Codfish Relay Race in Milbridge, Maine. Walters broke the fourth wall and accepted an invitation to enter a team in the race. Milbridge locals watched in amazement as Team Walters took first place.

Walters's hastily assembled team included a Jeff Grace, a NCAA Division 1 caliber athlete, future Irag War Correspondent Chris Anderson and Olympian Anda Rojs Smalls. The talent level of Walters's team more than made up for their complete lack of training in codfish relay strategy.

In the immediate aftermath of the race, Walters's team received the cash prize for their first place finish. However, it was delivered with an ominous suggestion from a race official.

Walters, now based in New York City, finally sits down with maineterrain.com to look back on the 1996 race and discuss the reformation of his team for the 2019 Codfish Relay Race .

John Walters is the founder of MediumHappy.com. He has been featured in Sports Illustrated, the Wall Street Journal, Newsweek, Yahoo Sport, The Athletic, CNN and more.
