DALLAS - April 29, 2019 - PRLog -- The cost of dating may surprise you! Founder of LUMA, and Expert Matchmaker, April Davis interviewed on WFAA- TV on April 13, 2019. In the interview, she explains "The Cost of Dating in D.F.W."

Dating can be a lot of things -- exciting, complicated, and expensive! A recent survey found nearly a third of millennials and Gen Zers have gone into debt paying for dates.

Q:   Dating isn't cheap -- what does a typical date night cost here in the metroplex?

• According to one recent study, the price of an average date night in Texas is around $111 dollars.
• The study defined an average date as dinner for two, a bottle of wine, and two movie tickets.
• While that may seem steep, Texas is actually on the cheaper end of the scale.

Q:  Is that what's driving so many young, single adults into dating debt?

Davis says that "young singles say they feel pressured to keep up a certain image. So, they're not settling for the average date -- or the average date costs -- but instead are spending a lot of money to make grand gestures in order to impress the other person. Ultimately, I always tell my clients that it's not about what you do, but who you are that matters!"

Q: At the same time, many millennials and Gen Zer's say debt is a dating dealbreaker -- why

"Debt is a dating dealbreaker likely because they know if the relationship gets serious then they could be asked -- or even responsible -- for helping to pay off that debt."

Q: When it comes to that first date, who should pay for the check?

"I always advise clients to split the check, no matter what, because it shows you're generous, not reliant."
