Drawing inspiration from various studies, which prove that cartoons are one of the most successful mediums to inculcate values in children and teach ideologies, Kalari Kids comes in a time when emphasis on physical fitness is paramount. In an age where obesity rate is reaching a new crescendo amongst youngsters, and various health issues are seeping in due to our unhealthy lifestyle and food choices, Kalari Kids reminds us of the virtues of physical strength and vigour. Not only does it promote the concept of fitness, it also brings back the traditional martial art form of kalaripayattu, introducing it to young ones with sass and fun.
Having already generated a buzz around its dance-worthy theme song, enticing visuals and lively characters, the show is expected to be welcomed with open arms. It is quite clear that the makers of the show are trying to bring a little tradition to the screen and make children celebrate their heritage. From visuals inspired by age-old Indian paintings to music that incorporates Indian classical, the show offers a much-needed dose of Indian culture and its forgotten past.
Set in the magical jungle of Kalaripuram, Kalari Kids is the story of two teams, both believers of two very different methods. One is led by Guru Palan, the other by Guru Veta. While Guru Veta is a preacher of the rigid military method of teaching, Guru Palan believes that learning comes in al environment of fun and comfort. The two teams - Beenu, Meena, Shyam, Unni and Ami in Team Palan, and Raaka, Dhaana, Mani, Lekha, Langot and Monster in Team Veta - are pitted against each other during their training sessions.
Kalari Kids will hit TV screens on April 15. Don't forget to tune in and catch the fun!
