HOUSTON - April 16, 2019 - PRLog -- In Austin, Texas on April 5th, 2019, WINGS Ministries: Freedom Through Transformation of Spring, Texas was presented the Health Services Division volunteer award during the Governor's 2019 Criminal Justice Volunteer Service Award Program.  During the ceremony the award was presented by Texas Board of Criminal Justice Chairman Dale Wainwright and TDCJ Executive Director Bryan Collier.  "Volunteering is a responsibility that these recipients have embraced wholeheartedly and for that we are extremely grateful," Wainwright said.  Collier stated, "These volunteers dedicate themselves each day to helping others succeed.  For many years to come, the impact of that invaluable time and effort invested will be felt across the state of Texas."  WINGS Ministries is one of 6 organizations and 16 individuals from across the state recognized for their efforts to help offenders, those who are on parole or probation, and rehabilitation programs.  They donate many hours of their personal time every year with the goal of changing the lives of convicted offenders while aiding and comforting their victims.  For more information, to volunteer, or make a donation online, please visit

About WINGS Ministries: Freedom Through Transformation:  Ministry was founded in October 2012 at the Harris County Jail, serving offenders in Harris County rehabilitation programs, at Plane State Jail, and the Santa Maria Hostel BAMBI and WHO programs.  WINGS Ministries was awarded the Houston Junior League Community Assistance Grant in 2018 and was one of four finalists for the One Hundred Shares Houston Grant the same year.
