Follow on Google News | Parkinson's Support Group offered at Wellesley Council on AgingBy: FirstLight Home Care The support group is led by Nicole "Niki" Sinopoli Fein, MSW, LICSW. Niki Fein is also the director of Next Step Elder Care, LLC. She is a Clinical Social Worker specializing in geriatrics. Niki's private practice includes psychotherapy to seniors in their home. Parkinson's Support Group sessions are geared to people with the diagnosis and their caregivers and family members. There is no set agenda or theme. Participants are encouraged to speak about what is on their mind. Open ended conversation then follows. Conversation tends to include the impact of receiving the diagnosis, experiencing changes, finding a doctor and a team, managing medications, exploring new research and minimizing symptoms in a non-medical way. Both Wellesley residents and non-residents are eligible to participate in the program, with registration priority, if necessary, given to Wellesley residents. The on-going gathering is co-sponsored by the Massachusetts chapter of the American Parkinson Disease Association and by FirstLight Home Care of West Suburban Boston.
