LOCAL NON-PROFIT TO ACQUIRE 92-YEAR-OLD CLEVELAND COUNTRY CLUB:

ANNOUNCES PARTNERSHIP WITH SHELBY NATIVE AND TENNIS PROFESSIONAL, TIM WILKISON AND TIM WILKISON ACADEMIES (TWA)

(SHELBY, NC) - A group of current and former members of the Cleveland Country Club has formed a new nonprofit corporation named CCC-Member Acquisition, Inc., to acquire The Historic Cleveland Country Club that was formed in 1927.  The Club turned 92 years old last week.  In preparation for the Club's centennial celebration in 2027, the new group is busy with plans to make significant improvements to the Clubhouse as well as the golf course, tennis courts and the swimming pool area.

The Club has a rich tennis history with several members going on to play at the collegiate level. Several former members have also been inducted into the North Carolina Tennis Hall of Fame.

One of those members is Shelby native Tim Wilkison who honed his game as young boy on the CCC tennis courts being coached and mentored by local tennis legends like Buck Archer, Jim Corn, and J.L. Suttle.   Tim went on to compete on the ATP Tour (Association of Tennis Professionals) and ATP Senior Tour for 25 years.  Tim was the #1 ranked Junior Tennis Player in the United States and reached as high as #21 in the world on the professional tour.  Tim won multiple singles and doubles titles on those tours, reached the semi-finals of the US Open and had multiple doubles semi-final appearances in Grand Slam events.  Tim is now recognized as one of the world's top tennis coaches and has extensive experience working with players of all ages and skill levels.

TWA works with tennis organizations and facilities across the world to provide tennis coaching, events and facility management.  Upon completion of the agreement between the new nonprofit and TWA, Tim commented "I am extremely excited about working with the membership of the Cleveland Country Club to provide a high-level tennis program for their enjoyment.  In our programming we focus on connecting members through fun events held in a positive atmosphere.  The tennis instructional programs we develop at CCC will always be age and skill level appropriate with a progression that allows each of our members to take their tennis game as far as they wish to."

Wilkison will immediately serve as the Club's Interim Tennis Pro as he conducts a search for the club's new Director of Tennis.  Wilkison will design and oversee all programming and will make periodic onsite visits to monitor the progress of the tennis program and participate with the onsite tennis director in coaching and teach the Club's members.

Ted Robinson and Steve Paris of Private Club Associates, (PCA) in  Atlanta, Georgia and Randy Addison of The Addison Law Group in Dallas, Texas have been retained by the new nonprofit corporation to assist in the conversion of CCC to a member-owned equity club that will be laser focused on providing the very best in dining, entertainment and athletic sports at an affordable price.   The transaction is scheduled to close within the next thirty (30) days.
