EASTON, Mass. - April 10, 2019 - PRLog -- South Shore Habitat for Humanity (http://sshabitat.org), which has delivered quality housing in partnership with families in need for more than 32 years, has applications available for families for a home to be built at 10 Electric Avenue in Easton, MA. The deadline for the applications is June 27, 2019.

South Shore Habitat for Humanity is working in partnership with the Town of Easton's Affordable Housing Trust on the Electric Avenue project. The Affordable Housing Trust's mission is to develop housing opportunities for a broad range of income levels and promote housing choice in Easton.  In addition to the Town providing the buildable land, the Trust is contributing a $30,000 grant for site work and construction costs.

South Shore Habitat for Humanity's Executive Director Martine Taylor said site work should begin by this spring and the community will be invited to volunteer during the summer and fall. Habitat offers a "hand-up, not a hand-out," Taylor said. "Habitat does not build these homes; the local communities do. We are so very grateful to the Town of Easton and to the Affordable Housing Trust for their commitment to partnering and supporting our mission," she said. This will be the fourth affordable home built by South Shore Habitat for Humanity in Easton.

Selected homeowners will work alongside volunteers on the construction of their home. Families purchase the home and receive a 30 year, affordable mortgage from South Shore Habitat for Humanity. A perpetual deed restriction maintains the affordability status of each home. Family Partners are selected through a competitive process based on their ability to pay, willingness to partner and need for adequate housing. The partnership program also includes educational workshops to equip new homeowners with the skills necessary to be active members of their communities.

Applications will be available at the Easton town library, at the South Shore Habitat for Humanity office in Weymouth, at the ReStore in Hanover and on their website at www.sshabitat.org. Family Partners will be accepted based on set guidelines and newly adjusted 2018 income limits.
