Acts 4 Ministry To Host "Inspiration" Fundraiser At The Palace May 15 Featuring The Kennedys Duo
The folk/rock/pop duo, The Kennedys, will be the featured musicians at the non-denominational non-profit organization's annual "Inspiration: Inspiring acts of love" fundraiser at the Palace Theater in Waterbury on May 15. Tickets currently on sale.
Tickets are currently on sale for the fundraiser that will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Lower Orchestra Lobby of the Palace Theater in Waterbury on May 15.
"This fundraising reception is an annual celebration of the many ways our organization impacts positive changes in the greater Waterbury community. We support the daily needs of families and individuals who are in dire financial distress because they have lost virtually everything they possess to a fire, flood, or other devastating life events," explained Acts 4 Ministry Executive Director Sarah Elizabeth Carabetta.
In a career that spans more than 20 years, the New York City-based guitarists and vocalists Maura and Pete Kennedy have traversed a broad musical landscape, surveying power pop, acoustic songwriting, organic rock rooted in their early days in Austin, Texas. Early in their career, they joined the Nanci Griffith's Blue Moon Orchestra for a few years before setting out on their own.
The duo's musical influences are rooted in Buddy Holly, The Everly Brothers, The Byrds, and The Beatles, and to date, the married couple has released numerous CDs including their latest, "safe until tomorrow' which was released in May of 2018.
At the start of their career, the duo's Byrds-inspired jangle drew the attention of McGuinn, Steve Earle, and most notably Nanci Griffith. They co-produced Nanci' Griffith's latest CD, and tour extensively across the U.S. and the British Isles with the Texas songstress. Alan Harrison of Made in Newcastle said, "The Kennedys offer a nice line of country-folk with a quaintly English edge to it and songs like 'When I go' and 'The Midnight Ghost', won them plenty of new fans, as was witnessed by the long queue buying up their CD's at the intermission."
Top-level sponsors of Acts 4 Ministry's May 15, 2019 "Inspiration"
"Acts 4 Ministry is a collaborative group of a volunteer board of directors, staff members and dozens of volunteers who desire to share God's love by meeting the comforting physical needs of others. We achieve this goal daily," explained Carabetta, "on many levels by collecting and distributing, free-of-charge to recipients, clothing, and housewares with an accommodating furniture program through volunteerism. Each year we distribute clothing to nearly 4,000 people, and over 1,000 pieces of furniture and housewares to people of varying income levels throughout the Greater Waterbury area."
