Dr. Nathan Zasler Honored at Brain Injury Association's Legacy Dinner

RICHMOND, Va. - April 8, 2019 - PRLog -- The Brain Injury Association of Virginia (BIAV), Virginia's leading voice on brain injury, announces Dr. Nathan Zasler as the 2019 BIAV Legacy Award winner. The Legacy Award recognizes significant, long-term contributions of lasting impact to the field of brain injury.

Dr. Nathan Zasler is the CEO and Medical Director of the Concussion Care Centre of Virginia, an outpatient neurorehabilitation practice, and Tree of Life Services, Inc., a living assistance and transitional neurorehabilitation program for persons with acquired brain injury in Richmond, Virginia.  The award was presented on April 6, 2019 during BIAV's inaugural Legacy Dinner Event honoring concussion advocacy. The event was attended by practitioners, donors, legislators, policymakers, caregivers, and members of the brain injury community from across the state.

BIAV's 2019 honorees were selected for their innovative and outstanding contributions to the brain injury field. "We are absolutely delighted to recognize these individuals for their exceptional and inspiring work on behalf of individuals with brain injuries and their families and caregivers and for their extraordinary contributions to the brain injury community," said Brain Injury Association of Virginia Executive Director Anne McDonnell.

"Besides his renowned clinical expertise and contributions to rehabilitation for people with brain injuries, Dr. Zasler is known as someone who lives his mission. He has an outstanding record of pro bono service to numerous agencies, but perhaps his most significant volunteer service has been to Camp Bruce McCoy, a signature program of BIAV. Camp Bruce McCoy is a recreational and residential camp for adults with brain injury, which also provides valued respite to caregivers. He has served as the camp's Medical Director for 29 years, taking calls at all hours of the day. I truly do not know if BIAV would have been able to keep our camp operating all these years without Dr. Zasler's time and support. It is truly fitting that Dr. Zasler is this year's recipient of the Legacy Award."
