The book is written for a child's comprehensive and is presented as a learning guide with questions in the back for teaching purposes for classroom assignments.

The Lebanon News, located in Lebanon, Virginia and serving Southwest Virginia, highlighted Collin's book during VA's Agriculture Literature Week. The newspaper touched on the inspiration behind Collin's desire to raise chickens, stating that he became interested in learning about chickens after a family road trip to Mountain City to sell some livestock.
