The Festival City moves its Blueberry event to a new locationMount Dora celebrates the local blueberry industry with its 5th annual event in Donnelly Park this year.
By: Visit Mount Dora The event originally started on the streets of downtown Mount Dora during construction in 2015 with the intent of moving to waterfront Evans Park at the end of Donnelly St. Event Coordinator Janet Gamache says, "We did move to Evans Park and loved the beautiful location. The train shuttle that dropped people off directly at the entrance was a huge success given the limited parking along the waterfront. Now that the train is no longer running from the remote parking lot on Old Hwy 441 to downtown Mount Dora, we reevaluated the location and decided we should move it to centrally located Donnelly Park." Although the train won't be shuttling guests to their cars this year, parking and free shuttles can be picked up at Mount Dora Christian Academy at 301 W 13th Ave, Mt Dora, FL 32757 On Saturday morning an old-fashioned blueberry pancake breakfast with fresh Florida blueberries, OJ and coffee will be served up by Chef Sennet Williams at the Donnelly Park Building from 9am to 11:30am for $8pp advance purchase or $10pp at the event. Get advance tickets at www.MountDoraBlueberryFestival.com. Blueberry pancakes and waffles will be offered by food vendors throughout the weekend. Crafters and vendors will be set up in "blue/blueberry" Blueberry pie can be purchased whole or by the slice and local blueberry farms will sell berries by the cup or by the flat fresh picked directly from their farms. Bring your Cameras and get your kids, family and friends to sign up for the popular Pie Eating contest at 2pm on both Saturday and Sunday. There will be two divisions: children up to 9yr and 10yr and up. Register at the INFO booth before 1pm. There is NO entry fee to participate. There will be face painting, a free bounce house and games for the kids. For adults there will be blueberry beer and blueberry wine tasting offered by Island Grove Winery. Music will be performed by Acoustic Flair, the Mardi Gras Band and other performers during the weekend. Avoid parking congestion downtown.
