United Premier Soccer League Announces Florida Expansion with Osceola Football Club
Kissimmee (Fla.)-Based Pro Development Club Joins UPSL for Fall Season
By: United Premier Soccer League
Based in Kissimmee (Fla.), Osceola Football Club begins play in the UPSL Florida Central Division, and will travel to every match as the designated visiting team during its first UPSL campaign while the club pursues access to facilities that meet UPSL Minimum Standards.
United Premier Soccer League Florida Manager Christian Vallejos said, "We're pleased to welcome Osceola Football Club to the Florida Central Division. Osceola FC wants to take on a challenge, and when it comes to taking on challenges it'll be pretty tough to match having to play all your games on the road in your first season. So the club is working on bigger things but the players are ready to play now, and we can respect that. We wish Osceola FC the best as it prepares for the Fall Season ahead."
Osceola Football Club had a second-place finish in its local adult amateur league during the 2018 Fall Season, and many of its players are currently scattered among several UPSL Florida clubs.
Richard Alcalde is the Owner of Osceola Football Club. A native of New Jersey, Alcalde is a veteran of the Central Florida soccer scene, and was formerly the Vice President of Osceola Assault Soccer Club.
Osceola Football Club Owner Richard Alcalde said, "We started Osceola FC and we've been competing in different leagues but the UPSL keeps popping up because they're a lot more organized, and better about how they manage their clubs. So now we're getting better organized because we're joining a better league, and it's going to take some time but everything is moving in a positive direction. The facilities situation here is going to require all our efforts, all our commitment, and a lot of local politicking, and so for this season we are going to play all our games on the road."
Roberto Rodriguez is the Head Coach of Osceola Football Club. A native of Mexico, Rodriguez has been a youth soccer coach in Central Florida for more than 10 years and has been the Osceola FC Head Coach since Day 1.
The club is hosting tryouts on Saturday, April 6 at 9 a.m. ET at Perniania Community Park (5900 Allegheny Rd., Kissimmee, FL 34759), and on Saturday, April 13 at 9 a.m. ET at Oren Brown Park (3511 Baker Dr., Kissimmee, FL 34741).
Osceola FC soon will announce its upcoming game schedule.
