Deepak Menon to Headline District 83 Toastmasters Annual Conference

ISELIN, N.J. - April 2, 2019 - PRLog -- Deepak Menon, of New Delhi, India, the International President-Elect of Toastmasters International, the world's leading organization devoted to communication and leadership skills development, will deliver the keynote address at District 83 Toastmasters' Annual Conference 'Transforming the World with Words' to be held from Saturday, May 4th to Sunday, May 5th at the APA Woodbridge Hotel, 120 S Wood Avenue, Iselin, NJ.

As a member of the Toastmasters International Board of Directors, Menon is a "working ambassador" for the organization. He works with the Board to develop and support the policies and procedures that guide Toastmasters International in fulfilling its mission.

Menon is a chartered accountant at J.P., Kapur & Uberai in New Delhi, where he is one of nine partners. He oversees management and operations, and specializes in international taxation, cross-border taxation, transfer pricing and direct taxes. Menon is also a trustee of the Columban Endowment Trust, a nonprofit organization. Menon is a fellow chartered accountant with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, where he also earned a diploma in Information Systems Auditing.

Menon served as a coach for the Toastmasters Youth Leadership program in collaboration with the American Center in New Delhi and helped build communication and leadership skills for approximately 700 underprivileged children across six cities in India. He also served as secretary of St. Columba's School's alumni society, the Old Columbans Association, and in 2006 co-founded the publishing house Ambi Knowledge Resources Private Ltd.

A Toastmaster since 2002, Menon's home club is Central Delhi Toastmasters. He has held a number of high-profile leadership positions within Toastmasters and has attained the Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM) designation—the highest level of educational achievement in the organization.

The conference will also feature four district level speech competitions:  International, Humorous, Evaluation and Table Topics.  All competitions began at the club level, and proceeded through the area, division, and district levels.  The International Speech is the only one that proceeds to the region quarterfinal, semifinal, and International levels en route of the grand prize:  The 2019 Toastmasters International World Championship of Public Speaking that will be held at the Gaylord Rockies Resort & Convention Center in Denver, Colorado.  In addition, there will be workshops featuring topics that encompass personal and professional development.

The contestant who wins the district level competition for the International Speech contest will then have the opportunity to compete at the Region Quarterfinals (video competition) and Semifinals, enroute to the grand prize:  the 2019Toastmasters International World Championship of Public Speaking, that will be held in Denver
