Week 2 Wrap Up - All-City Classic 302 Legends
Week 2 is a wrap for All-City Classic 302 Legends Basketball League & teams worked out their inconsistencies, with closer games all around, and a couple of surprises. Many teams could be in contention for the championship as they find their rhythm.

With Week 2, the season continued on a great note, and teams became more cohesive with closer games than anticipated.
In Game 1 Noble Nine (35) took out Free Agents (27) as they were supposed to, however the game was low scoring and closer than anticipated. Player of the game, Blake Saunders, led and controlled play with 10pts, 8rebs and 2 Stls. Noble Nine looked much more fluent this week compared to last week's disappointing performance. Chad Johnson made season debut and contributed with 8pts, which was a big help for their front court. Ant and Kwana can take a lot of pressure and this front court will cause problems for teams down the line. Many thought the loss of TC going to another team would kill Noble Nine's spirit, but it didn't stop them in Game 2. Free Agents put up 27pts in the low scoring contest., in which the winner only put up 35pts. Tom made his season debut today and led them with 8pts and 6rebs. He will be a factor for them as soon as he get his legs and wind back. Fans in the crowd wondered how a team that clearly has 3 of the top 10 shooters on the same team, only put up a total of 11pts for the game. Shawn Pep G Green, Steve Green, and Timon Cartwright put up poop numbers from the outside for the 2nd straight week. They are just hoping they can win a game, another game(in my Jim Mora voice).
In Game 2, Laced The OG def Eastside 50-34. Laced The OG were picked to lose today by double figures. They felt disrespected in the early predictions for their team. But today they chose to show the league they can be a top 3 team and go deep in the offs. Player of the Game, Cory Lemmons, paced the way with 12pts and 2 Stls. Blacktop made his season debut and put up 9pts and 2 Stls, allowing Maurice Furrowh Sr. to relax and not force his way to take over the game. He had 5pts and 3assts. Laced the OG looks dangerous so please take them seriously from now on. Eastside falls to 1-1 on the season now after starting out strong in the early minutes. They collapsed in the 2nd half which caused the lead to grow fast. Rell Dollar Bill led the way for Eastside with 14pts, 4rebs, 2Assts and a Steal. In fact, he was the only man in double figures for his squad today. Smooth also stepped up from last week adding 8pts and 7rebs. They will need much more from him from this point out. It wouldn't hurt to have Robert Classic Bullock on the floor more. His defense mentality was missed because of the lack of minutes. Lerrie Tate led Eastside with a game high 4 Stls defensively, but it wasn't enough to stop Magic and his team.
In Game 3, Diamond State Warriors de C-City 48-27. C-City definitely got dogged this week by 21pts. The oldest team in the league continues to punish opponents and continues on their winning streak from the last 2 seasons. We kept waiting for Bilal Ahmad and Fuzz to step up and get C-City going in the right direction. It's time for a win soon. The bright spot for C-City is they had 2 more pts then last weeks total. Their leaders can't continue to put up weak numbers. As for DSW, they handled their business without 2 of their main scorers. Evan Martin led the way with 14pts, and Corey Bethea chipped in with 11, 4 and 4. Gerald Wilmore was able to relax today. He barely broke a sweat, but got in and got a steal to add to his highlight reel.
In the final mach up, Chester def RBCBL/Philly 55-52, in Game of the Week. TOO much Bruce! Bruce held it down for Chester this week with 17pts, 9rebs 3 Assts, 3Blks, and 2Stls. Chester was predicted to win by 1 or 2pts today, and they won by 3. The game came down to the last minute, with some good defense by both teams. There were some missed calls by officials for both teams but it came down to Chester just out playing RBCBL/Philly in the end. The league's leading scorer, Daryl Danders, had all 12 of his pts in the 2nd half, and they were all big. Corbin Horsey chipped in with 14pts. Bruce treated Philly like a daycare in the paint today, often getting what he wanted whether it was a make or a miss at the rim. We thought Chester might struggle with Philly's press, but they didn't. They handled it extremely well. Chester is the real deal. RBCBL/Philly was led by Earl Pettis with 20pts. J Pope had 12pts, 5rebs and Levi chipped in 8pts. RBCBL Philly will bounce back from this next week.
Definitely looking forward to what Week 3 and beyond will bring for the league. It's getting interesting.
