New Book: Family Terror Networks
MACOMB, Ill. - April 2, 2019 - PRLog -- A groundbreaking, well reviewed new book, Family Terror Networks, has been authored by Western Illinois University professor and terrorism expert, Dean C. Alexander. The book addresses this terrorism phenomenon, its implications, and combating this growing feature of extremism, such as ISIS families, the Boston Marathon bombers, and San Bernardino terrorists.

This first monograph of its kind discusses the characteristics of such terror webs and chronicles over one hundred case studies globally involving diverse kin relationships (e.g., brothers, husbands/wives, and fathers/sons). These case studies found that family affiliated terrorism occurs most readily in couples and brothers. Overwhelmingly, jihadism was the ideology connected to such families, although other forms of radicalism were featured, including hate-based doctrines. The book provides a model for predicting family terror networks and proposes its use by government, the private sector, and public in order to reduce the frequency and lethality of terrorism worldwide.

The book is available from Amazon.com and other retailers. Since its publication in March 2019, the book has been featured in PoliceOne, Security Magazine, American Security Today, Homeland411.com, European Eye on Radicalization, Jerusalem Post, and Peoria Journal Star, among other publications. The book has been endorsed by current and former law enforcement, military, and security experts worldwide.

Since publishing on terrorism in 1991, Professor Alexander has authored three other books on terrorism, including: The Islamic State, Business Confronts Terrorism, and Terrorism and Business. He has trained law enforcement and military personnel in the United States and abroad on terrorism and counterterrorism issues His insights on terrorism have been featured in domestic and international media.
