BRONX, N.Y. - March 31, 2019 - PRLog -- Lehman Center for the Performing Arts and Goya Foods is thrilled to present NOCHE CALIENTE, a special Night to Remember with three of Salsa's superstar pioneers – three time GRAMMY Award-winning artist ROBERTO BLADES, and the GRAMMY-nominated artists FRANKIE NEGRÓN and BRENDA K STARR on Saturday, April 6^th, 2019 at 8pm. Experience the golden era of Salsa in this historic concert performed by the creators of the unforgettable Salsa Romántica and Sensual Salsa classics such as "Comerte a Besos", "Aguq Pasada", "Hoy Me Vuelto a Enamorar", "Temptation", "Herida", "Si Estuvieras Conmigo", "Ya No Regreso Contigo", and "Lágrimas". Produced by Lehman Center and Leo Tizol.
This concert continues the completion of the first phase of renovations at Lehman Center for the Performing Arts. Concert goers will find that the lobbies have been upgraded for ADA compliance with new ramps and carpeting, and the interior of the theater will have new seating, carpeted aisles, and finished flooring as well. The $15.4 million dollar refurbishment of the Center, which is expected to be completed by mid-2019, will also include 5,400 square feet of enlarged space, with a new main entrance and a redesigned box office, plus new administration offices and restroom facilities on the first and mezzanine floors, and an elevator. The Center seats 2,278 people in the concert hall and is the largest of its kind in the borough. Funding for the project is being provided by the Office of the Governor, the New York State Legislature, the Bronx delegation of the New York City Council, and the Office of the Bronx Borough President. Additional funding is being raised with a seat naming initiative, which allows community members to make a personal connection with one of New York City's most important not-for-profit entertainment venues.

ROBERTO BLADES, brother of Latin artist Ruben Blades was born in Panama. In 1981, after a stint in the U.S. Air Force, Roberto joined the Miami-based Orquesta Inmensidad, providing the vocals for the chart-topping hits "Lágrimas" (Tears) and "Ya No Regreso Contigo" that started a new musical style known today as Salsa Romántica. After a decade with the orchestra, Roberto released his first solo album Encore which won the 2002 GRAMMY Award for Best Salsa Album. Roberto also stands out as both a producer (winning the 2001 GRAMMY for Best Tropical Latin Album for Gloria Estafan's record Alma Caribeña) and as a composer with seven Billboard Hot Latin number one hits including Marc Anthony's "Dimelo" (I Need to Know) for which Roberto was honored as songwriter with the 2000 Latin GRAMMY Award for Song of the Year. Named BMI's 2001 Songwriter of the Year, he has also written and produced dozens of hit songs for many top Latin artists, including Jon Secada, Ricky Martin, Thalia, and Alejandro Fernandez. As an artist, Roberto Blades has sold more than 15 million records throughout his career.
FRANKIE NEGRÓN grew up in Newark, N.J., and started singing in high school in a local R&B group called Base Harmony. He released his first album Con Amor Se Gana in 1997, which reached #4 on the Billboard Tropical Albums Chart, has gone Platinum, and prompted Negrón to be named "the genre's next definitive voice" by All Music Guide for his distinctive blend of traditional salsa with progressive influences of pop, gospel, R&B, hip-hop and reggaetón. The album contained two #1 Latin Tropical hits, "Inolvidable" and "Hoy Me Vuelto a Enamorar", and earned Frankie a nomination for the Lo Nuestro Tropical Salsa Artist of the Year Award. His next album No Me Compares also went Platinum, and earned another Lo Nuestro nomination for the Tropical Salsa Artist of the Year. That record included the chart-topping hits "Agua Pasada" (which was also nominated for the Lo Nuestro Tropical Song of the Year) and "Princesa". To date, Negrón has recorded seven additional studio albums including his GRAMMYnominated release Por Tu Placer (2001), and the Lo Nuestro nominated Amanecer Contigo (2005). Amongst his many hit songs are the fan favorites "Comerte a Besos", "Enamorado de Ti", "Todo Es Mentira", and "Remolino". His most recent single "Adicto a Tu Piel" reached #3 on the Latin Tropical Chart.
