(Lake Worth, FL – March 20, 2019) The League of Women Voters of Palm Beach County (LWVPBC) is inviting the public to two delicious and informative "A Whole New World" events in April and May. Both luncheons will be held at the Atlantis Country Club, 190 South Atlantis Blvd., south of Lake Worth and west of I-95.
Hot Topic Luncheon
Ethics in Politics and Life
with Peter Cruise
Florida Atlantic University – Executive Director of the LeRoy Collins Public Ethics Academy & Affiliate Associate Professor
Wednesday, April 17 / 11 am to 1 pm
"I don't have to be reelected but I do have to live with myself," Florida's 33rd Governor LeRoy Collins told The Palm Beach Post in 2003. Peter Cruise first met Collins in the early 1990s and says his "quote on acting in an ethical manner in the public sector is short and sweet and still resonates today."
The doors open at 11 am, and lunch is served at 11:30. The cost to attend this thought provoking event is $25 before April 10, and $35 afterwards. RSVPs are requested either online at www.lwvpbc.org or by calling Esther Friedman at 561-968-4123.
Hot Topic Discussion
How to Attract Viable Candidates for Political Office
with Pam Goodman
President/CEO of Ruth's List Florida
Wednesday, May 15 / 11 am to 1 pm
"Florida is rich in talented, smart people who should be serving in elected office. They are nuggets of gold. When an office pens up, we should be opening a treasure chest full of these nuggets. Currently, it's more of a treasure hunt than a treasure chest, but that can be changed," Goodman challenges.
The doors open at 11 am, and lunch is served at 11:30. The cost to attend this thought provoking event is $25 before May 8, and $35 afterwards. RSVPs are requested either online at www.lwvpbc.org or by calling Esther Friedman at 561-968-4123.
