Governor's Fitness Awards Announce Active Community Finalists

One finalist in each category will receive the Governor's Fitness award, and they will be recognized during the gala celebration at MGM Grand Detroit April.

LANSING, Mich. - March 28, 2019 - PRLog -- The Michigan Fitness Foundation announced the selection of finalists for the Governor's Fitness Awards (GFA) 2019 Active Community Award. The Active Community Award recognizes a Michigan community that has made notable efforts to increase opportunities for physical activity through designed and built on-the-ground changes that lead to safer, more inviting spaces which encourage active living. The winning community will have also created and initiated policies to sustain their long-term efforts.

The finalists are:

- City of Huntington Woods
- City of Mackinac Island
- Waterford Charter Township

The Michigan Fitness Foundation and the Governor's Council on Physical Fitness, Health and Sports sponsor the annual Governor's Fitness Awards as a way of honoring individuals, organizations, and communities that inspire health, wellness and active living. The winners of all the Michigan Fitness Foundation's Governor's Fitness Awards will be announced during a Gala on the evening of Thursday April 25, 5:30 – 8:30 pm at the MGM Grand Detroit.
