ALBANY, N.Y. - March 28, 2019 - PRLog -- More than fifty partnering agencies and nonprofit advocacy groups join with Healthy Schools Network to celebrate the 17th annual National Healthy Schools Day on April 2, 2019. With a theme of "A Healthy School for Every Child: Eliminating Hazards in Schools and in Child Care Facilities", activities will focus on lead in water and paint, as well as reducing the presence and use of hazards such as pesticides, and conventional cleaning products.

Background resources are available free to schools, parents and others, communities, and media alike. These include:

• LEAD IN SCHOOL WATER. Lead in school and childcare drinking water is a major issue nationwide. Currently only nine states require testing at the tap and another two dozen have experimented with voluntary programs. See the Chart on States Taking Action.

•  TOXICS IN SCHOOLS AND CHILD CARE FACILITIES. Currently more than 30 states have put some restrictions on the use of pesticides in schools and or on school grounds, and some 12 state are promoting the use of green cleaning and other healthy products. Both are proven ways to reduce the presence of hazardous exposures in schools and in child care facilities.
