Bicycle Across South Carolina Launches Tickets For September Ride Along Palmetto Trail
By: Bicycle Across South Carolina
BASC celebrates cycling and the great outdoors, and offers participants a rare chance to see South Carolina from a unique perspective. Riders will explore different parts of the state on trails, stay locally and attend events in local communities, enjoying a sense of camaraderie amongst the rolling community of cyclists.
The three-day, 139-mile ride will include:
· Day One: 28 miles through the Manchester State Forest. Finish the day with a pontoon boat ride to Santee State Park for happy hour and dinner.
· Day Two: 62 miles along the Palmetto Trail, including the shores of Lake Moultrie with a finish in Moncks Corner.
· Day Three: 49 miles though the Francis Marion Forest followed by a party at Hidden Ponds Nursery in Awendaw. A silent auction will benefit the Palmetto Conservation Foundation.
The three-day ride is not recommended for non-cyclists. There is also an option to participate in a two-day ride.
"BASC will shine a light on South Carolina's unique landscapes, while building community among riders and encouraging people to get out and experience life," said race organizer Sarah Daily.
Over the 130-mile trail, participants will ride, dine, and stay together in an unforgettable weekend trip curated by The Post and Courier, the Palmetto State's largest circulation newspaper. Riders may include families looking for outdoor fun, couples, friend groups or individuals hoping to meet other adventure-seekers. Riders can camp in state parks (campsites will be family-friendly)
A percentage of proceeds will benefit the Palmetto Conservation Foundation, a nonprofit organization committed to conserving South Carolina's natural and cultural resources, preserving historic landmarks and promoting active outdoor recreation on the Palmetto Trail and other greenways.
