It used to be that our vacations were meant to allow us to relax, recharge and get away from our jobs for awhile, but quite often we find ourselves tending to work related tasks all through our supposed time off.  In this article we offer some tips on really getting away from it all and how to actually relax on your Roatan vacation.

Leave Your Work At Work

Many people say this is easier said than done, but worrying about work while on vacation is likely the biggest source of stress once you've made it through airport security.  The best way to shut down your connection to work is by telling your employer and coworkers that you won't have internet or mobile phone access while you're away. This may not be true, but if it keeps the work at bay it'll be worth the little white lie.  It is a vacation, after all!

Utilize The In-House Services

Most accommodations have in-house services for their guests.  This could be an on-location restaurant, sporting equipment rentals, booking services for local tours or specialty services such as scuba lessons or fishing expeditions.  Rather than leaving the property to try and find something to do or eat, consider kicking back, relaxing and taking advantage of the services just outside your door. You'll be staying with these people for awhile, so why not get to know them a bit better by sampling their wares?

Leave Your Comfort Zone

You're on holidays and you'll likely be faced with things you've never experienced before.  Take advantage of this! Getting out of your comfort zone is a great way to refocus your energies and take your mind off the stresses you have back home.  Whether it's something as simple as laying in a hammock for an hour, sampling new food or something more adventurous such as windsurfing or snorkeling, trying something new is a great way to get the endorphins flowing and encourage relaxation.
