ASU students put on fundraiser event on Apr. 20, 2019

Fundraiser benefits the children of incarcerated parents to help send them to AZ Camp 180

PHOENIX - March 22, 2019 - PRLog -- On Apr. 20, 2019 at South Mountain Park, the students of Arizona State University's Special Events Management class will be hosting a western themed fundraiser called "Boots and Belles."

Arizona State University's professor of the Special Events Management class, Virginia Coco, said, "the students have been putting in a lot of effort to raise money to send kids to camp. It's been interesting to see how the students started off in January to the progress they've made now."

The event will be held from 3 p.m. to  6 p.m. and will benefit children of incarcerated parents attending AZ Camp 180, an Angel Tree Prison Fellowship Camp. Using evidence based leisure education techniques, AZ Camp 180 gives children the opportunity to gain life skills and hope for the future through the Angel Tree camping initiative.

Coco said, "with this event, I hope the students will gain experience of all the behind the scenes work it takes to pull off a successful event. It will sure be a fun afternoon for all those who love BBQ food, western decor, country music and supporting the community."

The event will include a potluck sampler provided by ASU students; a performance by Devil Dancesport, who will be on hand to guide line dancing; raffle prizes, and more surprises. Tickets are $30 per person with all proceeds going to AZ Camp 180. Ticket includes food, dancing and access to enter the raffle.
