CLEVELAND - March 21, 2019 - PRLog -- Business Volunteers Unlimited (BVU) announced the launch of its 2019 Business Summit, introducing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to the Northeast Ohio business community.

The UN SDGs have an impact on businesses large and small. BVU has invited Northeast Ohio businesses to learn how to leverage the SDGs for operational efficiency, profit and communications for stronger investor relations, employee engagement and their communities.

The summit will take place over two days, beginning on Monday, April 8th, for a young professionals' cocktail hour taking place at the Music Box Supper Club on the West Bank of the Flats. This event, entitled "Cocktails with Champions: Big & Small Sustainability" will feature Beau Daane, director of sustainability for Covia, and Ashley Weingart, founder of Perfectly Imperfect Produce. This Q&A session will be moderated by Michelle Sustar, integrated marketing manager, Crain's Cleveland Business.

On Tuesday, April 9th, the main BVU Business Summit will be hosted at Case Western Reserve University's Tinkham Veale Center, beginning at 8:30 AM. Keynote speakers include Julie Edgar, Ph.D., Chief Sustainability Officer and VP of Innovation at The Lubrizol Corporation, a Berkshire Hathaway Company, and Claire Sommer, Director of the Fowler Center.

Following the plenary sessions, participants will be led through self-assessments and workshop exercises by the Flourishing Leadership Institute. Other engagements and support have been made possible by The Fowler Center for Business as an Agent for World Benefit and Sustainable Cleveland.

These events introducing the SDGs to the Northeast Ohio business community as a framework for collaboration have been generously sponsored by Hyland, The Sherwin-Williams Company, Covia, Dix & Eaton and Nordson Corporation. Both events are open to any member of the business community, and corporate teams are encouraged to attend, particularly professionals from the Executive Suite, HR, Marketing, CSR, Sustainability, and Environmental/Health/Safety arenas.
