KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - March 20, 2019 - PRLog -- "Served Like a Girl," the powerful, award-winning documentary, to be screened at 1:00 PM on Saturday, April 13, at Downtown West Cinema 8.

Thanks to the generous sponsorship of Eddie Mannis for Mayor and the Metropolitan Knoxville Airport Authority, LiveLearnGrow is honored to offer this free event celebrating the survival of women veterans and sharing their stories.

Served Like a Girl provides a candid look into the lives of several American women as they transition from active duty to civilian life after serving tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan. Struggling with PTSD, homelessness, broken families, serious illness, physical injuries, and the aftermath of military sexual abuse, these amazing women find ways to adapt and overcome debilitating challenges. It is an engaging and honest look at an often unseen veteran reality.

A brief panel discussion and Q&A with Carpetbag Theatre, Inc. and Veteran Honorees will follow the film. In addition, resources for women veterans and their families will be available. The screening is open to the public with a suggested contribution of $10. Seating is limited for this free event and reservations are recommended.

Special thanks goes to East TN PBS for their support and helping to acquire this powerful film to share with the Knoxville Community. A portion of the proceeds will go to benefit The Carpetbag Theatre and ongoing community efforts of LiveLearnGrow.
