LOS ANGELES - March 18, 2019 - PRLog -- Last Saturday, Paw Works hosted its 5th Annual Ties & Tails Gala - Mardi Paws, at the Four Seasons Westlake Village. The evening's Mardi Paws theme created a night to remember, with exciting auctions, specialty cocktails, a delicious 3-course dinner, and a live show hosted by Paw Works Ambassador and Master of Ceremonies, Jai Rodriguez (Queer Eye For the Straight Guy) with rousing musical performances by Trenyce (American Idol Finalist, Season 2) and David Hernadez (American Idol, Season 7).

"Pawsitive Awards" given to those instrumental in creating "pawsitive" change in the lives of animals in Southern California and beyond, were presented by Paw Works Ambassadors, Rachel Lindsay (The Bachelorette), Parker Bates (This Is Us), Raegan Revord (Young Sheldon), Larissa Wohl (Home & Family "Adoption Ever After"), and Bob DeCastro (Fox 11 News At Noon). Those awarded included Melanie Scherer (SNIP Bus), Dr. Singh (Somis Veterinary Hospital), Sal Valdepena (Balooja's Foundation), Larissa Wohl (Hallmark's Home & Family, "Adoption Ever After"), and Arhaus, who have donated over $20,000 to Paw Works in the last year.

Later in the evening, Paw Works Child Pet Ambassador (CPA) volunteers, D'Lila Star and Jessie James Combs, Ava Baroni, and Lily Felippe, were honored on stage with a surprise appearance by Sean Combs (Diddy), who came to present stunning bouquets to congratulate his daughters on their contribution.

"Our goal was to raise funds and awareness for abandoned shelter pets, in an effort to reduce the millions of animals unnecessarily euthanized in the U.S. each year," said Chad Atkins, Founder and Executive Director of Paw Works. "We have successfully rescued and rehabilitated over 5,000 dogs and cats in our first five years, and run costs exceeding $1.2 million every year to do so. Mardi Paws Ties & Tails was not only a tremendous opportunity to shine a light on those who assist us in our life saving, daily work and thank our supportive community of friends and family, but was also the perfect occasion to set our sights firmly on our future goals to shift the status quo, and save more animals in-need!"

Chad Atkins and Christina Morgan founded Paw Works, a non-profit with two storefronts in Ventura and Thousand Oaks, in 2014. Their initial intent was to make Ventura County "No Kill," a goal they achieved less than one month after starting the organization. Paw Works is now the largest animal non-profit 501(c) (3) in Ventura County, already placing over 5,000 abandoned shelter dogs and cats in permanent homes. Now in its fifth year, Paw Works recently acquired its first boarding facility and sanctuary, continuing the organization's growth from its foster-based roots. Actress, Kaley Cuoco, (Big Bang Theory), is both a Celebrity Ambassador and previous Board Member. Other Celebrity Ambassadors include Natalie Morales (Today Show, Access Hollywood), Rachel Lindsay (The Bachelorette), Raegan Revord (Young Sheldon), Parker Bates(This Is Us), Bob DeCastro (Fox 11 News), Jai Rodriguez (Queer Eye), Larissa Wohl (Home & Family "Adoption Ever After"), and Mikalah Gordon (American Idol).
