THE COPELAND KIDS by Cecilia Copeland (TALTRIX Winner LA Femme Int. Film Festival).
In 1975 when Bev's ex-husband Sam takes off with their children, she never dreamed he would leave the country. To get the kids back, Bev will have to change the law, plead her case in the Israeli Supreme Court, and fight harder that she ever thought possible. Based on the true story of the Copeland kidnappings.
In every divorce there are two sides to the story, but for the children stuck between them who is right and who is wrong makes little difference. Even the best intentions sometimes lead us down the wrong path, but there is always hope.
Cecilia Copeland is one of the children who were taken in the Copeland kidnappings. Most recently she is known for her award-winning pilot, TALTRIX winner of Best TV Pilot Screenplay LA Femme International Film Festival and New York Women and TV, where they hosted an industry reading directed by NBC's The Blacklist's Amir Arison, starring Golden Globe Winner Regina Taylor. TALTRIX is based on Copeland's novel SURVIVING THE GAUNTLET. Copeland is a writer who lives in New York City. As a playwright she is a Kilroy's Nominee for her plays, "Light of Night" and "R Culture" -upcoming production in Minnesota Fringe. Her play, THE NEXT TIME is published in the Gun Control Plays Collection available on Amazon and has been performed around the world.
On writing THE COPELAND KIDS, Copeland had this to say, "When I saw what was happening at the border to so many children and parents, I couldn't stand by and do nothing. I know the long term effects of being separated from your parent at a young age. The best way I can help make people understand is to tell my story."
