Alliance of Career Development Nonprofits Celebrates Natl Women's History Month with Smart & Sexy

NATIONAL WOMEN'S HISTORY MONTH BY
HONORING AND EMPOWERING WOMEN SEEKING EMPLOYMENT
IN A NATIONAL EVENT SPONSORED BY SMART & SEXY

Washington, D.C., March 13, 2019 – In honor of Women's History Month, the Alliance of Career Development Nonprofits (ACDN), and its member organizations will host events in March throughout the U.S. to help women prepare for employment. Launched in 2012 by Alliance of Career Development
Nonprofits - a national organization of independent, community-based member organizations who provide professional attire and career skills training to low income women and men - and sponsored by Smart &Sexy, one of the largest privately held lingerie companies in the country, the 2019 Smart & Sexy Day will
train and support close to 500 women throughout the country. Smart & Sexy Day events inspire women –boosting their self-confidence so they feel assured, confident, and employable.

"Our member agencies help level the playing field for their clients, who lack the resources—either by not having the clothes in their closet nor the money to purchase interview attire themselves—to present themselves competitively at an interview", says Connie Golds, Board President of the Alliance of Career Development Nonprofits. "ACDN member organizations serve over 25,000 women and men each and every year, day in and day out ensuring low-income people seeking self-sufficiency have an equal chance! Smart & Sexy Day events show women that they can be capable, confident and hire-able."

As part of the 2019 Smart & Sexy Day, ACDN member organizations will provide a day of workforce training, professional image classes and individual support for women to enable them to take action, secure employment and enhance the quality of their lives. Women who attend Smart & Sexy Day at a participating ACDN location will receive Smart & Sexy ® foundation garments for added confidence and support on their job interviews, job seeking skills training from leading local industry professionals and dedicated volunteers, and tips for shopping for and building a professional wardrobe on a budget. "The bras are so pretty and I love the support!" says Gloria S. a client at one of last year's events. "The
presentations were very interesting--my favorite was the one on financial management."
"Smart & Sexy Day kicks off Career Wardrobe's 2019 Work It series of professional development seminars designed to help job seekers take their careers to the next level," said Sheri Cole, Executive Director of Career Wardrobe in Philadelphia. "Our day will focus on building confidence and will include bra fittings, expert makeup and grooming tips, and professional photographs to spruce up the participants' LinkedIn profiles. Programs like Smart & Sexy Day allow Career Wardrobe to offer unique opportunities that would otherwise be out of reach for most of our participants."
