For decades, the breathtaking paintings of Mr. Bonestell (1888-1986) have taken viewers through and beyond our solar system. He is even credited as being a quiet force behind the creation of America's space program. Born in San Francisco, Mr. Bonestell not only survived the 1906 earthquake and helped rebuild the city in its aftermath but also created illustrations of the Golden Gate Bridge that made sure it was built.
