Follow on Google News | MichBusiness Raises Concerns over Gov. Whitmer's Proposed Small Business Tax IncreaseBy: Michigan Business and Professional Association MichBusiness CEO and President Jennifer Kluge said, "We feel strongly that implementing any additional business tax would hamper small business growth, negatively impact jobs and take our State backwards. History has taught us that this kind of tax has never been positive for Michigan." Kluge said her organization has a keen understanding of the negative effects this tax could have on the state's small businesses, Michigan's continued economic growth and more than 400,000 families. "The majority of small businesses have less than 20 employees, yet they are driving over 90 percent of our State's economy. We project this proposed tax increase will affect more than 100,000 companies in Michigan," she concluded. The MichBusiness team is working to stay abreast of developments as they occur and will continue to inform members about the effects of any such small business tax.
