March 4, 2019 San Rafael, California - One of the finest collections of Shreve & Co. Adam sterling silver in a generation will be offered at Fine Estate Auction on March 24th, 2019.

This is an unusual and stunning personal collection of the neoclassical and elegant Adam silver pattern introduced in the early 1900s by iconic San Francisco based silver designer and manufacturer Shreve silver. The pattern wonderfully reflects the superb Georgian neoclassical elegance of the architecture of brothers James and Robert Adams.  This collection began almost two decades ago and is being offered for the first time.

Compiled by antique dealer Rhoma Young, with the guidance and partnership of Michael Weller, owner of Argentum, the renowned San Francisco silver retailer, the collection has grown to well over 200 pieces.  In addition to complete sets of flatware, the collection includes a large amount of hollowware including rare serving pieces, tea and coffee services, vases, candelabrum, baskets, ramekins, plates and other custom ordered items. "Silver has a warm beauty, a certain light quality … and the craftsmanship – it's just sublime" said Young, "and the Adam pattern beautifully melds the traditional with contemporary design."

Fine Estates is honored that Rhoma Young has entrusted them to showcase and sell her fine collection.  "It's not only an amazing group of silver but also a culmination of Rhoma's passion and knowledge as well as a nod to her deep friendship with Michael Weller" said Christine Skinner, Auction Director at Fine Estates. Rhoma plans to donate a portion of the proceeds to the Cancer Society in remembrance of Mr. Weller.

The Shreve Adam collection will be offered at auction live and online on Sunday, March 24. The public preview will be open from 12pm-5pm on February 22 and 23 and morning of the sale at 10am.. In addition, a wide selection of unique property including jewelry, fine art, silver, decorative arts, collectibles, and Asian works of art will be offered.
