BEDMINSTER, N.J. - March 4, 2019 - PRLog -- The Center for Contemporary Art ("The Center") is pleased to announce its Members' Juried Exhibition at the Bernardsville Public Library in Bernardsville, NJ on view now through March 28th.

A benefit of membership at The Center is the opportunity to submit work to members' exhibitions. Other benefits include invitations to exhibitions, reduced rates on art classes and workshops and discounted art supplies.

Juror Jill Kerwick selected thirty-four pieces from 194 entries submitted by 70 artist members of The Center. Ms. Kerwick awarded six prizes. The "Best of Show" award went to Nicole Strafaci (Frenchtown, NJ) and Honorable Mentions were awarded to Doris Ettlinger (Hampton, NJ), Petia Hsiao (Branchburg, NJ), Sarah Isusi (Basking Ridge, NJ), Donna Rose Maselli (Hillsborough, NJ) and Michael McFadden (Hampton, NJ).  The Center's Exhibitions Committee selected Margaret Fanning (Warren, NJ) as the recipient of the Solo Exhibition Award at The Center for Contemporary Art which will be on view April 12 – June 8, 2019.

Juror Jill Kerwick stated, "It was a pleasure to look at nearly 200 pieces of art….In addition to the creativity, formal concerns and inherent meaning, I thought about the energy of the artwork. For example, looking at a Charles Burchfield painting I sense an exuberant energy and looking at a Giorgio Morandi painting I sense a focused energy. Experiencing a work of art by Olafur Eliasson I sense a spiritual energy. Surprise is also a quality that has captured my attention, something unexpected.
(as in a Bonnard)."

Ms. Kerwick is a New Jersey-based artist who has a Master of Arts from NYU and a BFA from Moore College of Art, in Philadelphia. Kerwick was featured in solo exhibitions at The Center for Contemporary Art and Beauregard Fine Art in Rumson, NJ in 2018 and a recent solo exhibition at the Center for Spiritual Care in Vero Beach, FL.

The Bernardsville Public Library is located at 1 Anderson Hill Road in Bernardsville, NJ.
