American Society of Appraisers Norcal Chapter Hosting Upcoming 'Going Concern Valuation' Courses

ASA Offering the Appraisal Industry's Sole Real Property 'Going Concern' Specialty Designation

LAFAYETTE, Calif. - March 1, 2019 - PRLog -- The American Society of Appraisers (ASA) NorthCal Chapter (https://www.asanorcal.org/) in Lafayette, CA is offering an upcoming series of two courses focusing on Going Concern Appraisals, i.e. the total value of the real estate appraised plus the affiliated business operation.

ASA Real Property designated Appraisers can earn the profession's only specialty in Going Concern Valuation by successfully completing the following two classes (RP400 & RP401); submitting a report for peer review and applying for the specialty designation enhancement.

"With today's complex real estate (gas stations with car washes and convenience stores, nursing homes, golf courses, and hotel/motels) if would behoove most real estate commercial appraisers to take one or both of these courses," said ASA Real Property Discipline Chair, Paul D. Roberts, ASA.

"Even if you do not want to pursue the Appraisal Specialty the knowledge obtained from these courses would be quite beneficial. No other society is offering this, so ASA will stand alone as the sole expert in going concern real estate valuation," Roberts added.

Both of the following courses will be held in Lafayette, CA for three days with a 2-hour exam at the start of day 4:

* RP 401 - Allocating Components in Going Concern Appraisals (http://www.appraisers.org/Education/local-chapter-courses...), to be held on May 20 - May 23, 2019, Lafayette CA

This course introduces appraisers, assessors and attorneys to the concept of allocating the various components of a real property going concern. It's intended for students who have a basic understanding of how to appraise complex commercial real estate, such as fueling station/c-store, car washes, lodging properties, nursing/assisted living facilities, etc. … Find Out More (http://www.appraisers.org/Education/local-chapter-courses/2019/02/19/05-20-23-19-rp401-allocating-components-in-going-concern-appraisals)

* RP 400 - Real Property Going Concern Appraisals- Case Studies (http://www.appraisers.org/Education/local-chapter-courses...): to be held on June 3 - 6, 2019, Lafayette, CA.
