CARMEL, Ind. - March 1, 2019 - PRLog -- The Ballet Theatre of Carmel Academy (BTCA) is set to perform 'The Sleeping Beauty' this May. The performances round out BTCA's landmark tenth season.

The production offers an opportunity for young dancers at all experience levels.
Children ages five to eight can 'Be a Fairy.' This is a fun way for kids to participate in a classical ballet production with only a two-month time commitment. No prior dance experience is required.

"It's great to see these children learn and open themselves to new possibilities," says Jane Hachiya-Weiner, co-Artistic Director of BTCA with her husband Frank Weiner. "They're thrilled when it's time to perform and their excitement affects us all."

'The Sleeping Beauty' features music composed by Piotr Tchaikovsky and is an
adaptation of Charles Perrault's 1697 story "The Sleeping Beauty in the Wood." The ballet debuted in 1890 with choreography by Marius Petipa, a longtime collaborator of Tchaikovsky.

Rehearsals start March 8 and go through May 10, with extended rehearsals on May 3rd and 4th. BTCA performs 'The Sleeping Beauty' May 11 at 7:30 pm and May 12 at 2:00 pm. Both performances will be at Westfield High School Auditorium.

BTCA is a non-profit organization with dance studios on the north side of Indianapolis.

Additional details on the 'Be a Fairy' and other programs, as well as sign-up forms and online registration, can be found at the school's website https://BalletTheatreofCarmel.org.
