Shangri-La Springs hires seasoned hospitality professional Cindy Ekonomou as director of sales

BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. - Feb. 27, 2019 - PRLog -- Shangri-La Springs is pleased to announce the hiring of Cindy Ekonomou as the historic property's director of sales.

A seasoned professional with more than 30 years of hospitality management experience, Ekonomou is responsible for directing, overseeing and managing all sales and catering activities. She will be the primary point of contact for prospective and current clients seeking to host weddings, receptions, meetings and special events at Shangri-La Springs, which features a full-service organic spa, wellness room, banquet rooms, wedding and event space, gardens, mineral spring, organic restaurant and historic hotel that is currently under refurbishment.

Ekonomou most recently served as director of special events for the Burroughs Home & Gardens in downtown Fort Myers, where she realigned and developed the venue's sales department while increasing bookings by 50 percent. Additionally, she is the national new chapter ambassador co-chair for the National Association of Wedding Planners.

Prior experience includes serving as director of destination services for Palm Beach County Convention & Visitors Bureau, director of sales and marketing for Palm Beach Island's notable Brazilian Court, and director of sales and marketing for the historic Gulfstream Hotel, Canopy Palms Resort, Doubletree Guest Suites Hotel and other luxury resorts on the east coast of Florida. Ekonomou is a Florida native and earned an Associate of Arts degree from Brevard College and a Bachelor of Arts in communications from the University of Central Florida.

Shangri-La Springs has announced several key hirings in recent months as the famed Bonita Springs' property prepares for its full reopening, including Executive Chef Allen Fisher as food and beverage director, Dr. Deborah Leible as spa manager and Cecelia Morales as organic garden manager.
