Staten Island Libertarian Party Holds Annual Convention

Libertarian Party celebrates official status in New York State.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - Feb. 27, 2019 - PRLog -- The Staten Island Libertarian Party (SILP) held its tenth annual convention this past Sunday evening, February 24th, at The Liberty Tavern and Grill on Forest Avenue.

Outgoing chairman Richard Bell presided over the meeting and election of officers.  Mr. Bell is stepping aside as chair but will continue on as treasurer.

The SILP membership cast voice votes for the 2019-2020 Board of Directors, electing Rocco Fama, Chairman (Graniteville); Debra Altman, Vice Chairman (Sunnyside); Charles Hargrove, Secretary (West Brighton); and Richard Bell, Treasurer (West Brighton).

In attendance were over 30 residents, including Libertarian candidate for NYC Public Advocate in November 2019 Daniel Christmann of Brooklyn.

The keynote speaker was 2018 Libertarian Party gubernatorial candidate Larry Sharpe, who delivered a presentation of his campaign and the future work of the Libertarian Party in New York State since attaining official party status and a permanent place on future ballots.

In addition, the party's newly-minted secretary, Mr. Hargrove, spoke about his 2018 write-in candidacy for Congressional District NY-11 and his upcoming campaign for Congress in 2020 as a Libertarian.
