HOLLYWOOD, Calif. - Feb. 25, 2019 - PRLog -- Despite what was supposed to be a torrential rainstorm, celebrities and art lovers from all walks of life  gathered at AC Gallery in Hollywood, to view the gallery's early Valentines gift to the city. In partnership with Artsy and running concurrently with Frieze, the second annual Art in LA AfFair took place February 13-17,2019.
Gallery Owner Carlos Benitez prepared for the worst; covering and heating all of the outdoor areas of the 4000-foot gallery, so that guests would be dry for red carpet festivities as well as keeping warm. "We are a premier venue for art, so it's important that we provide the best possible experience for artists and patrons alike,"
And  what an experience it was: Guests were not only treated to over 30 artists working in contemporary fine art in all media types including Abstract, Art Objects, Conceptual, Craft, Minimalist, Photography, Pop art, Representational, Sculpture and Works on paper, but live musical acts all four days of the event. The first night also featured a gala red carpet ceremony, a full bar(with bartenders provided by Dama Tequila)  including kombucha, which was provided by GTS
MedMen cannabis dispensaries table was staffed by friendly representatives in their bright red jackets, who offered guests information as well as a discount upon visiting the dispensary.

Guests included many notable celebrities, including Grammy winner May Chang, Academy Award nominee Shannon K, Billboard recording artist Em Hoggett, veteran bad guy actor, Patrick Kilpatrick, and even pink and gold Power Rangers, Allison MacInnis and Steven Skyler, who all  braved the weather to support art in Hollywood.

The true stars of the evening were the works of art themselves, which included a print of Jean Michel Basquiat's "The Offs", as well as a Warhol retrospective by photographer Karen Bystedt and a special exhibit on loan from the Velveteria Museum.

Guests were also treated to the works of Domenic Migliore, who's photographs were recently removed by a gallery in Chicago, for being "too controversial." Owner Benitez said, " That's exactly why I love these pictures." "Here is a young man who has a voice and is not afraid to use it." Miglorie's photographs include a woman with a gun in her mouth, and another of a woman with a gun between her naked thighs. "I'm gratified that places are happy to show my pictures, and very happy when people enjoy my work." Miglorie who is on the autism spectrum says he is an example of how people of all abilities can "show that everyone can create and appreciate art of all kinds."

Artists in residence Rachel Ganz and George Hobbs were impressed by the event and crowd size. Hobbs whose simple Stick Figure Wisdom drawings have been described as 'heartfelt," and "revolutionary," said, the gallery continues to become more and more popular. "Every event is bigger and better than the last." Ganz, who's work centers around influential women from Nefertiti, to Betty Boop, concurred, "So many people came out, even in the rain." In Los Angeles, this is saying something. Artist in residence Mikey was inspired. "I can't wait to show the people what I have next. It will blow them away."

AC Gallery is located at 1546 North Highland Avenue, Hollywood, CA 90028.
