Follow on Google News | Premier CEO Pete McConney Receives Urban League's Prestigious "Journey Award"By: Premier Mail & Fulfillment The Journey Award is awarded to exceptional individuals who are connected to the Urban League through philanthropy, program participants or as volunteers. Sheila Mixon, Executive Director of Business Development & Entrepreneurship for Urban League of Southwest Ohio, was instrumental in selecting McConney to receive this recognition. "When I consider someone for the Journey Award, I look at what he or she has done to build a sustainable business," Mixon said. "What is their community involvement? Ms. Mixon explained that "Pete shines in all categories. He does a fabulous job in running his business and growing his business. He is an astute business man, very savvy. But he's also not afraid to admit that he's wrong and to seek out help when he needs it. "Pete was instrumental in establishing the AABDP Alumni group and he seeks out and does business with AABDP graduates and other minority business enterprises," The other 2018 Journey Award honorees are: Anthony Campbell, Life Ready program graduate; Rodney Hardin, of The Kroger Company and Urban Leader Institute graduate; Aurelia "Candie" Simmons, Urban League Guild Liaison: Mario Cannon, of Lithko Restoration Technologies, and Young Professionals President; and Robert Talbert, Miami Valley Urban League SOAR (Solid Opportunities for Advancement & Retention) program graduate. "I am pleased and honored to be chosen to receive a Journey Award," said McConney, who also serves on the Urban League of Southwest Ohio's Board of Trustees. "I really enjoy giving back and supporting the Urban League's African American Business Development Program I graduated from. "What Sheila mentioned as criteria for the award are things I really enjoy doing," McConney said. "I received so much from AABDP, and it has helped me to achieve much of my business success. It's only natural that I would want to be a part of an alumni program that supports AABDP and supports new graduates. "A lot of people have helped me to get to where I am today," McConney explained. "So, paying it forward and helping others in business is a pleasure." "He doesn't just build his own business, he also helps to build up the businesses of others, helping to increase their capacity," Mixon said. "To sum it up, I would say that Pete cares about people, he cares about the community." ____________________________________________________________ Premier Mail & Fulfillment is an award-winning full-service Print, Fulfillment and Mailing House that has provided their customers with exceptional service and rapid turn-around for 20 years.
