Truxx Announces Tips for Drivers Program
Truxx introduced the program to guarantee that all gratuity goes directly to drivers and is not used to calculate hourly earning rates.
In November when Instacart made public that its earning estimates include gratuity, it created a backlash that forced the popular pickup and delivery service to reverse the controversial practice. In response, Truxx announced the Tips for Drivers program to reaffirm its policy that drivers keep all of their tips.
In a statement, Carlos Suarez, co-Founder and Chief Design Officer said "The gig economy is a powerful force, but if we are going to change the world we must value trust over money. At Truxx, that starts with our driver (worker) network. We've worked hard to build the first national network of active drivers and we value every one. We made this announcement as a way to provide a clear and simple message regarding our policy: drivers keep their tips."
According to Truxx, the average gig transaction is $87, with drivers earning 70%, or just over $60. Truxx claims that drivers can earn up to $49/hour depending on the service and job.
