HOUSTON - Feb. 21, 2019 - PRLog -- Dr. Percy Francisco Morales, known to his online community as "Dr. AFib," will be raising money during the month of February for the American Heart Association (AHA). He announced his "Love Your Heart Challenge" in a video on his Facebook Page on February 1st, the first day of American Heart Month. In his challenge, Dr. AFib counts how many burpees he can complete in one minute, and pledges to donate that amount to the AHA. He encourages others and challenges celebrities to do the same as well.
Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States, killing more than 600,000 people each year. The goal of this challenge is to raise awareness of heart disease, a health risk that kills 1 in 4 Americans annually. Dr. Morales says, "During Heart Month we need to raise awareness for people living with heart disease and help promote donations to the American Heart Association. Your donations can lead to research which will save lives and fund programs that help those who are affected by heart disease."
The American Heart Association was formed in 1924 by a handful of pioneering physicians and social workers who believed that scientific research could lead the way to better treatment, prevention, and ultimately a cure for heart disease. Since then, the AHA has grown rapidly in size and influence into an organization of more than 33 million volunteers and supporters dedicated to improving heart health and reducing deaths from cardiovascular diseases and stroke. Donations to the AHA will fund innovative research, advocacy, and patient support until no more loved ones are lost to heart disease and stroke.
Dr. AFib calls out Michael Strahan, David Letterman and Jennie Garth, three celebrities who have publicly advocated for heart disease research and awareness, to participate in the challenge and donate to the AHA this month. He asks that anyone who has or has had a loved one with heart disease shares their own burpee challenge videos along with a link to the AHA donation page.
A loved one dies from cardiovascular disease every 38 seconds. Join the Love Your Heart Challenge today!
