World Record Anthology Crowdfunding

CAPE TOWN, South Africa - Feb. 21, 2019 - PRLog -- Celenic Earth Publications is a small publishing company based in Cape Town, South Africa. We were established in 2015 and officially registered as a private publishing company in 2016.

CEP first established itself as a publisher of anthologies of short stories. We focused on genre-based anthologies, starting with collections of horror, science fiction and fantasy short stories. We then spread out to publishing individual novels by writers from all over the world, and sold their books globally.

We are a print-on-demand publishing company, and our business is mostly online. We started with absolutely no funds at all, and have grown to a small company that brings in a minor turnover every year. Our income is made from sales royalties from online marketplaces, such as Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and Smashwords, and from profits made from direct sales on our own online bookstore.

On July 2017, Guinness World Records approved our world record attempt at the Most Authors Contributing Towards an Anthology of Short Stories. The record at that time was 50 authors. On 14 October 2017 we launched our volume, CEA Greatest Anthology Written, which featured 108 stories by 108 writers, spanning several genres. The volume is divided into several parts by genre, so that those that enjoy a specific genre can read that specific section.

The volume is A4 size, 570 pages, in order to meet the criteria as set out by our printers all over the world, as well as our distributors.

The record is already beaten. However, one of the criteria set out by the Guinness World Record officials is that 1000 copies of the paperback be printed, with sales reaching 1000 copies sold with at least 50% of those sales being paperback, while the rest may be ebook. GWR have set this criteria for this record to ensure that the paperback is not just published for the sake of the record, and that it remains an official published volume even after the record is verified.

As we are a small company, who have mostly focused on print-on-demand, capital for ordering stock of 1000 copies is a high demand. We have managed to print and sell through orders that have been placed online, but we would very much like to print the remaining 650 copies that are needed to meet the first goal (1000 copies to be printed).

We have a quote for the printing of the last amount of books that are needed, which amounts to just over $11500 (the remaining $500 is for transaction fees, postage, logistics, marketing and any unforeseen costs).

This is the final hurdle to having our record, already achieved, verified by the GWR officials.
