Fabless Semiconductor Startup OctoTech Inc. Introduces a New Innovative RF Product for BLE AoA / AoD Application

IRVINE, Calif. - Feb. 20, 2019 - PRLog -- An Orange County, California based start-up semiconductor company is introducing a new Radio Frequency Integrated Circuit (RFIC) product to address the needs in IoT RF front-end market with 2.4 GHz 4-Antenna Front-end RFIC called 8TR8241.

OctoTech is pleased to announce 8TR8241. This product is a single-die solution with an integrated RF front-end including PA, LNA, matching network, and includes antenna SP4T switch with an excellent switch isolation to address BLE Angle-of-Arrival (AoA)/Angle-of-Departure (AoD) application.  This product has additional capabilities such as fast transmit switching time of less than 500nsec RF burst for precise time-of-flight measurements, multiple battery current saving modes for portable devices, stable transmit power over antenna mismatch, directional transmit power detector for closed-loop power control, automotive-grade operating temperature in a industry leading small package of 3.0x3.0 mm QFN package. 8TR8241 is also capable of transmit EDR power of +9 dBm for Bluetooth audio applications as well.

The cost advantages of implementing RFICs in silicon processes result from the combination of: lower wafer costs (Si compared to GaAs, or other III-V compound wafers), lower packaging costs (lead-frame based MSL1 packages, compared to laminate-based MCMs), die-count reduction (a single silicon die, versus multiple dice produced in different process technologies), and from the integration of common RF front-end components (inductors, capacitors, and switches) into a monolithic solution.
