UPSL Women's Division Announces Sporting AZ FC as New Southwest Conference Expansion Team

LOS ANGELES - Feb. 20, 2019 - PRLog -- The United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) Women's Division is excited to announce Sporting AZ FC as a new member starting with the 2019 Spring Season.

Based in Phoenix (Ariz.), Sporting AZ FC will begin UPSL Women's Division play in the new Southwest Conference.

United Premier Soccer League Commissioner Yan Skwara said, "Sporting AZ FC has become one of the flagship clubs representing the UPSL, and we're pleased to welcome the club to the UPSL Women's Division. CEO and General Manager Tim Marchisotto is committed to promoting a winning culture which, in return, creates tremendous support for his home-grown product. We're honored to have Sporting AZ FC developing its club and its players in the UPSL Women's Division."

Tim Marchisotto is CEO, General Manager of Sporting AZ FC. A native of Syosset (N.Y.), Marchisotto is the Head Women's and Associate Head Men's Soccer coach at Benedictine University in Mesa (Ariz.).

Marchisotto said, "We are very committed to the UPSL and its place in continuing to develop collegiate talent and being a path to pro. Having our women's team compete in the UPSL allows this group to play competitive, meaningful games and continue grow our brand with our league partner."

Sporting AZ FC has announced Nick Morgan as the team's Head Coach. A native of Chicago (Ill.), Morgan currently coaches with Benedictine University and Arizona Arsenal Soccer Club.

An Assistant Coach at Benedictine University, Morgan specializes in the team's Goalkeepers and Strength & Conditioning programs for both the Men's  and Women's teams. He was previously a goalkeeper for Sporting AZ FC, and in 2017 helped the team win the UPSL Southwest Conference Championship.

"Nick has been a tremendous asset to both Sporting AZ and Benedictine University. He will make a great college head coach in the near future (and) players really respond to him," Marchisotto said.

"I am very grateful to the club for trusting me with the team and we will look to build a strong team that will match the success of our men's team," Morgan said.

The club will announce tryouts and a game schedule in the near future.

The UPSL was formed in 2011 and currently includes more than 300 teams in Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Virginia and Wisconsin. UPSL is the fastest growing Pro Development League in the USA, with 400-plus teams targeted for 2019 Fall Season. Each UPSL team is individually owned and operated, and is responsible for maintaining either UPSL Pro Premier Division or Championship Division minimum standards.

UPSL teams are all eligible to participate in the U.S. Open Cup Qualifying Rounds through the leagues affiliation with the U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF) and the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA).
