Dr. David Johannesmeyer Joins Lowcountry Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine

CHARLESTON, S.C. - Feb. 17, 2019 - PRLog -- Dr. David Johannesmeyer, an orthopedic surgeon with a subspecialty in sports medicine, has joined Lowcountry Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine. While he is fairly new to the practice, he is no stranger to the Charleston area. Born at Trident Hospital and raised in Summerville, Dr. Johannesmeyer knew he wanted to care for patients in the community that raised him. He states, "When it was time to choose a practice, I wanted to come back home. I knew I wanted to be in a private practice in Charleston. My father had been a patient at Lowcountry Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine, and spoke highly of them. My mother's family physician recommended them as well. I knew it was a perfect choice."
Choosing an emphasis on sports medicine was also a perfect fit for Dr. Johannesmeyer. He was an athlete his entire life participating in sports ranging from swimming to soccer, and ran track and field at The University of South Carolina. He continues to participate in sporting endeavors, which provides him with a well-rounded perspective on treating athletes of all ages. Dr. Johannesmeyer explains, "As a sports medicine physician, I love taking care of athletes, especially youth. I grew up playing every sport in the book which gives me a unique perspective in my subspecialty of sports medicine."
Dr. Johannesmeyer joined Lowcountry Orthopaedics in 2018 after completing a fellowship in Sport Medicine and Orthopedic Surgery. He explains what he thinks makes this practice exceptional, "We are a physician led and privately owned practice that provides comprehensive care. We offer fast access to patients with orthopedic needs."
Dr. Johannesmeyer attended the University of South Carolina, graduating with Honors from the South Carolina Honors College. He completed medical school at the Medical University of South Carolina. He went on to complete his orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Alabama-Birmingham and his sports medicine fellowship at the University of New Mexico. A resident of Daniel Island, Dr. Johannesmeyer also enjoys spending time with his wife and 3 children, running, triathlons, snowboarding, and relaxing at the beach.
