Performance offerings include the Lerner and Loewe musical 'Paint Your Wagon' BOCA RATON, Florida, Feb. 8, 2019—Jon Robertson, dean of Lynn University's Conservatory of Music and Philharmonia guest conductor, today invited the public to attend six musical events this February and March, including three performances of the classic Lerner and Loewe musical Paint Your Wagon. Conservatory of Music concerts run through May in the Keith C. and Elaine Johnson Wold Performing Arts Center, the Amarnick-Goldstein Concert Hall or the Snyder Sanctuary, all located on Lynn's Boca Raton campus. February Feb. 10 Kandinsky Trio Lynn Distinguished Artist-in-Residence violist Ralph Fielding joins the national award-winning Kandinsky Trio in a performance of Mozart, Shostakovich, Beethoven and Czerny. He had inherited the 18th century Classical style but composed with a Romantic vein of melody and expressive harmony of the 19th century. This program will feature some of his masterworks. The winner will be presented on Sunday, April 7. This competition is made possible by a gift from violinist Elmar Oliveira, brother and student of John Oliveira. Fortunes rise and fall during the California gold rush in Lerner and Loewe's classic musical about love and ambition. It features gorgeous standards like They Call the Wind Maria, I Talk to the Trees and Wand'rin' Star. A hardened, old California prospector (Ben) strikes it rich as his daughter Jennifer finds gold and the love of a local miner (Julio). The town grows more populous and prosperous as news of the strike spreads, as the daughter heads east to attend school.
