-- Tom Dumke of Thomas William Furniture is headed west. He is making his way to La Quinta, California for the 37th La Quinta Arts Festival. La Quinta Arts Festival has again been ranked #1 in the Nation Fine Art Festival by Art Fair Sourcebook, an honor bestowed for five of the last seven years. Sunshine Artist Magazine, also named La Quinta Arts Festival #1 Fine Art & Design Festival in 2019. Tom will join over 220 top artists from 36 US States, Argentina, Canada, Italy, and Nicaragua presenting their latest handmade works.
"I am looking forward to this show, it is one of my first showings on the West Coast. I have been exhibiting and selling my furniture mainly in the East and South," says Tom. Dumke has been handcrafting furniture for the past 34 years. Sixteen years ago, he went full-time and which started out with a few art fairs per year, he completes on average 16 art shows with La Quinta Arts Festival being one of those for 2019.
Dumke's work has sharp, clean lines and is simplistic in form, allowing it to fit with many styles of décor. His furniture is functional, practical, and also a work of art. Each piece is constructed in a traditional manner and all are made of solid wood. He designs his furniture based on the figure and pattern of the wood. Different woods are incorporated throughout each piece including cherry, black walnut, maple, and birch. Dumke has mastered the traditional methods of woodworking and this is reflected in his craftsmanship of heirloom quality solid wood furniture.
