Bloomex Sponsors Flower Boys and Girls Campaign
By: Bloomex Canada
The Flower Boys and Girls Campaign began in 2014 and took place in Ottawa to help connect local businesses with their community on the days leading up to Valentine's Day. Local volunteers and key community leaders including Ottawa's mayor Jim Watson participated in handing out flowers to residents during past campaigns.
The Campaign originated to show that a small gesture can change someone's life, to create a more caring city, and to remind people what it was like to receive a Valentine's gift from someone near them. The initiative has grown each year with more participants and recipients taking part.
This year's campaign has expanded and for the first time will include four Canadian cities: Ottawa, Halifax, Montreal and Toronto. The 2019 campaign is also proud to include the Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada who will participate in handing out flowers in these areas. Participating clubs include the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Halifax, the Dawson Boys & Girls Club, the Boys & Girls Club of Ottawa, and the Toronto Kiwanis Boys & Girls clubs as representatives of their respective communities.
Together with community leaders, volunteers and some VIP guests, the children will hand out 2500 flowers in the largest initiative to date.
"Bloomex is delighted to become national sponsor of the Flower Boys and Girls campaign this year," says Sue McDonald, Director of Public Relations and Corporate Partnerships at Bloomex. "Valentine's Day is about love and caring and what better way for our cities to demonstrate both, than with the gift of flowers? We appreciate the efforts of these amazing volunteers in helping bring smiles to our communities in three different provinces this year."
"The Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Halifax is thrilled to be participating in the Flower Boys & Girls campaign," says Vanessa Burns, Director of Development. "This is a wonderful way to build awareness for our organization and brightening up someone's day at the same time. We are very appreciative to Bloomex for supplying the beautiful flowers. At the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Halifax we ensure every kid is a kid of privilege."
"It's wonderful to see how the Flower Boys and Girls campaign has grown each year," says Sam Chen, founder of the Flower Boys and Girls campaign. "Flowers are a great way to spread joy and we look forward to a fun day with a lot of smiles!"
Flowers will be handed out Monday February 11 in various locations in the four participating cities. Use hashtag #FlowerBGC to follow along for live updates and videos.
